Updates from SUM15B

Second archaeological campaign in 2015 at Sumhuram is just concluded

The second archaeological campaign carried in 2015 at Sumhuram was focused on the western part of the city (Area F), to the south of the “Monumental Building 2”.

Excavations were carried out with the aim of clarifying the stratigraphic relations and the position of the entrance.

In the south-western part of the city the water channel put into light during the first campaign was completely dug out, and a very big, circular inlay made of agate stone was discovered.

The archaeological report, explaining the provisional results of the campaign, will be soon available.
