2014A archaeological campaign at Salut

Updates from the archaeological investigation at Salut and the Bronze Age Tower

Started on January 25th, the 2014A archaeological campaign at Salut and the Bronze Age Tower is coming to its conclusion (March 20th).

Works at Salut further exposed the impressive mudbrick walls with stone foundations that surrounded the site during its earlier phase. Restoration of several internal stone walls also took place, as well.

At the Bronze Ager tower, the substantial wall W28, partially lining the side of the ditch, was fully revealed. Further structures, presumably ancient wells, were discovered and the inlet to the main ditch further revealed.

All these features will be thoroughout investigated, within the frame of the ancient water management study that constitutes the main focus of this campaign.
