Visions of Oman: from Ptolemy to the Present

A seminar and an exhibition hosted by the Royal Geographical Society focusing on environmental heritage of Oman

The seminar entitled "The Natural Heritage of the Sultanate of Oman: Field Science in Oman - Past, Present and Future" will be hosted on Tuesday 4 March 2014 by the National Field Research Centre for Environmental Conservation, Sultanate of Oman at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), London. Experts from Oman will discuss their research looking at environmental issues, from the Omani desert to the the Arabian Sea.

The seminar is connected to the exhibition "Visions of Oman: from Ptolemy to the Present"  curated by Alexander Maitland, FRGS. It provides an introduction to the subject of Oman’s geographical landscape, its people and places, focusing on coastal and marine, desert, mountain and the future of field research in the Sultanate of Oman.

Both the seminar and the exhibition provide an opportunity to reflect upon the environmental heritage of Oman, the research into its conservation and plans for its future.
