KCHR to launch One Year Post Graduate Diploma Course in Archaeology at Pattanam

The Indian Institute of Archaeology, an academic centre of the Kerala Council for Historical Research (KCHR) at Pattanam, is launching a new “Post Graduate Diploma in Archaeology: An interdisciplinary programme in Material Culture Studies”.

The KCHR which leads the multi-disciplinary excavations at Pattanam since the last eight years is a recognised research institute of the University of Kerala.

The one year programme designed from an interdisciplinary perspective, will integrate different branches of social sciences, humanities and physical sciences. Students will be trained in various concepts and practices, in material culture studies, human ecology and ethnography. The course will also explore the existing methodological practices of site-centric research, site conservation and museum studies.


The last date for receiving the application in the prescribed form is January 20th 2015. The classes would commence on February 1st 2015
