The North American Conference on Afroasiatic Linguistics is the annual appointment for those interested in research on linguistic topics relevant to the languages of the Afroasiatic phylum (Chadic, Berber, Cushitic, Omotic, Egyptian, and Semitic).

Topics related to all aspects of Afroasiatic languages, including phonology, morphology, syntax, comparative linguistics, sociolinguistics, and epigraphy, are currently considered.

The theme for 43rd annual meeting is the Afroasiatic languages’ contribution to general linguistic research. The meeting will focus on the interface between particular Afroasiatic languages and various fields in linguistics, specifically in the way these languages deepen understanding of general phenomena in human language.
