Even though the restoration of the bronze artifacts form Yemen is still in progress, some interesting discoverings were made regarding the production techniques, the manipulations the bronzes have undergone along their lives, the damages caused by past improper restoration.

Progress of South Arabian epigraphic heritage cataloguing in DASI

Since its opening in September 2013, DASI archive has been continually updated with newly catalogued material. The CSAI corpus has been enriched with about 170 inscriptions, which were edited in articles in Arabic language and varia epigraphica, mainly from the most recent issues of journals and monographs. Moreover the CSAI section dedicated to museums’ collections has been enhanced with the epigraphic and an-epigraphic objects.

International collaboration for the digitization of pre-Islamic Arabian epigraphs

The collaboration between DASI project and the European centres for the study of Arabia goes on, with a new agreement with the project OCIANA and the Nabataean inscriptions catalogued by CNRS- UMR 8167 (Paris).

Improvements to DASI archive website

In the first months of 2014, DASI archive was improved with new sections and tools. A more flexible textual search tool on onomastics has been set up and an entirely new section was opened in order to gather the collections catalogued by the DASI team in different museums worldwide.

Epigraphic mission to Saudi Arabia

The Italian - Saudi Mission has been set up by the University of Pisa with the aim of promoting the study, preservation and dissemination of the pre-Islamic cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The working program includes the inventory of the inscriptions preserved in museums, the identification of graffiti through fieldwork, their digitization and publication through the DASI system, training of local students and exchange of researchers.
