UCL Qatar

The Pisa research group started a new collaboration with UCL-Qatar focused on the study of ancient metallurgy.
In particular Dr. Martina Renzi from UCL-Qatar is studying with the Italian team a wider sample of metallurgy-related items, including some crucibles datable to the Late Iron Age newly found at Salut, melting waste, ingots and finished objects.
The chemical composition and the isotopic signature of the collected findings will be investigated.
The results will then be discussed altogether with those already obtained from a more reduced sample, previously investigated in collaboration with the Department of Metal Sciences, Electrochemistry and Chemical Techniques of the University of Bologna.
