Rencontres Sabéennes 19

The 19th annual meeting Rencontres Sabéennes was held at the University of Pisa from Thursday 18 June to Saturday 20 June 2015.
Experts in South Arabian epigraphy and archaeology from all over the world have met to discuss the topic of this year: identity.
Speeches and papers, of which abstracts are available below, have dealt with aspects related to the homogeneity and diversity of the languages and cultures of pre-Islamic South Arabia and its neighbouring civilizations, analyzed from different perspectives (historical, epigraphic, archaeological etc.).
Posters describing the latest academic researches and the fieldwork projects, these available as well, have been presented by younger researchers and students.
A special session chaired by Anna Paolini, UNESCO representative for Gulf Countries, was dedicated to the prevention of war damages to the architectural and archaeological heritage of Yemen.
