The archaeological site of Sumhuram “Khor Rori”

The Archaeological Park The site of Sumhuram and the territory of Khor Rori have been listed since 2000 among the Unesco’s World Cultural and Heritage places.
The importance of this reward encouraged the Office of the Adviser to H.M. the Sultan for Cultural Affairs and IMTO in creating instruments and facilities to disseminate the knowledge of the history of the city and to improve the fruition of the site for the visitors.
The inauguration of an archaeological park focused on the city and on the ruins placed in the territory near by has been the first step of a big project including now panels for the illustration of the archaeological remains and resting area for the visitors.
In July 2010 the new “Sumhuram Gallery” has been inaugurated. Inside it’s possible to find an exhibition of objects from the excavations and panels with information about the settlement and about Dhofar.
A tourist guide of the site is available at the entrance of the site and in the gallery.
