South Arabian legal inscriptions

Giovanni Mazzini is conducting a study project on the legal documentation of ancient South Arabia.
The aim is to arrive at a general re-evaluation of material which is of crucial importance for the reconstruction of significant aspects of South Arabian civilization.
Substantially, the texts on legal matters which have been published so far have been collected and analysed from a philological standpoint.
The institutional and cultural features which emerge from this analysis will be systematically studied at a later stage of the project in the light of the whole of the documentation.
Comparative analysis with parallel aspects found in ancient near East documentation is also being conducted.
