Water management at ST1

Extensive excavation at the Bronze Age Tower of Salut brought to light a remarkable series of ancient dug features related to water management.
These clearly include the main ditch with its inlet, the tower central well and the outer channels, but also a few additional wells just discovered during the first season of 2014.
The study of the sediments which were deposited inside these features, realized in collaboration with Prof. Mauro Cremaschi (University of Milan), will be of the uttermost importance to understand the strategy of ancient water use and the hydraulic regime of the area during the second half of the third millennium.
The thorough study of the stratigraphy in situ will be implemented by the collection of samples suitable for thin section micro-morphology study.
