In November 2007 the CASIS team began the cataloguing activity in a selected number of Yemeni museums. The scientific coordinator of the Yemeni side, Amida Sholan, looked after the organization of the official meetings and of the sojourn of the Italian researchers in Yemen.
After their arrival, the scientific coordinator Prof. Alessandra Avanzini, together with her collaborator Dr. Alessia Prioletta, met the Yemeni authorities the Vice-Minister for Research and Higher Education, Muhammad Mutahar, the director of GOAM, Abdallah Bawazir, and the Italian Ambassador Mario Boffo.
In November 7th started the cataloguing activity in the museums. For the first year, the partners decided to work in the region of Dhamar, in the Yemeni highlands. In this province, there are 3 museums: two in the city of Dhamar, one in the village of Baynun.
The persons who took part to the cataloguing activity, directed by Alessia Prioletta, were Ekaterina Goushchina (for Pisa university), and the Yemeni people who participated to the training course in Pisa.
The team was assisted by the responsible for the Dhamar and Baynun museums, Saleh al-Faqi, and was constantly helped and supported by the director of the GOAM of Dhamar Ali al-Sanabani, and by the sceikh of Baynun Ahmad al-Huzeizi.
