Cataloguing in Yemeni museums

Between October and November the CASIS team completed the inventory of the epigraphic collection of the Military Museum of Sana.
After cataloguing the inscriptions displayed in the halls of the museum in November 2009, the inscriptions housed in the store of the museum have been registered.
More than 90 new inscriptions were photographed, registered and catalogued in two weeks of work.
The Military Museum houses also an important collection of about 70 texts inscribed on wooden sticks and palm-leaf stalks.
Within the frame of the cooperation agreement with the museum, CASIS obtained the permission for a first preliminary study of these texts.
CASIS has also provided the museum with technical equipment such as a computer, scanner, printer and a digital camera.
