17th Rencontres Sabéennes

On June, 8th the research group on pre-Islamic Arabia of the University of Pisa presented the project DASI to scholars meeting at the Rencontres Sabéennes conference.
The paper “Two years of DASI Project: achievements and prospects for the digitization of the pre-Islamic Arabian inscriptions” by A. Prioletta and I. Rossi makes the point on the activities carried out and the goals achieved during the first two years of the project and presents the work in progress and the future prospects.
Special attention has been devoted to the:

  • important agreements with other international scientific teams on the sharing of methodologies of digital cataloguing,
  • description of the IT tools developed for the online digitization and fruition of the inscriptions,
  • monitoring and preservation work in Yemeni and USA South Arabian collections,
  • future work of valorization of the pre-Islamic Arabian epigraphic heritage through scientific publications and online dissemination to a broader public.
